Flight Simulator Training

10:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Robert Morgade Library
Flight Simulator

By appointment only. There is a waiting list. Minimum age is 10. |  Register for flight simulator lessons

The idea lab at the Robert Morgade Library is taking flight!

Using X-Plane 11 Professional software and realistic flight controls, you can get in the pilot’s seat. Our resident Flight Simulator Instructor and his crew of volunteer instructors will be available throughout the week to provide free one-hour 1-on-1 lessons by appointment only.

Beginner pilots will learn the basics of flight, navigation, and how to land the airplane. Experienced pilots will become familiar with the hardware and how to fly a virtual airplane.

The purpose of the Martin County Library System’s Flight Simulator, located at the Robert Morgade Library’s idea lab, is to:

  • Introduce the world of STEAM through aviation to the area’s youth
  • Allow those interested the opportunity to experience flight before taking on the financial responsibility of actual flight lessons.
  • Provide those who cannot obtain a pilot’s certificate the opportunity to learn to fly.
  • Provide pilots the resource to practice flights prior to actually beginning their journeys.

Minimum age: 10

Pilot IDs

Unique pilot IDs are created so the library may communicate with or about students on our website/Blog without using the student’s name. This is for the privacy of our patrons. The Pilot ID begins with the letter N and consists of the birth month, birthday, and pilot’s initials. If Jane Doe were born April 1, her pilot ID would be N0401JD.

Flight Club

The Flight Club consists of a group of simulator pilots who want to take this experience to a higher level. We will do this by holding meetings, finding guest speakers, creating challenges, and sharing experiences. Flight Club members are eager to share their passion for aviation and will help you learn to fly. Flight Club is open to all, not just flight simulator students. You do not have to attend meetings to benefit from the Flight Club. You will become a member of the club simply by joining this email list.  https://tinyurl.com/MCLSFlightClub
